ma0/emmeazero vi invita a visitare Footprints, all'interno della sezione Experimental Architecture della 11 Biennale d'Architettura di Venezia, 7 visioni sul ribaltamento del rapporto tra figura e lo sfondo nella città contemporanea, in cui è il vuoto a plasmare il territorio, a lasciare la propria impronta ecologica.
Oltre l'architettura c'è dunque il suo negativo, il vuoto, l'impronta di una collettività che delimita e connette, che individua e accomuna. Questo vuoto è infatti un confine che facendosi spazio – si ispessisce ed è parte di una rete illimitata – diventa letteralmente un cum-finis, ovvero il “fine comune”, lo spazio pubblico condiviso di una urbanità molteplice e sostenibile.

ma0/emmeazero invites you to visit Footprints, in the Experimental Architecture section at the 11 Biennale d'Architettura in Venice. 7 visions that overturns the roles between figure and background in the city,where the void becomes a primary force of collectivity, an ecological footprint.
Beyond architecture stands therefore its negative, the void, the collective footprint that delimit and connect simultaneously, a system of borders that, according to the Latin etymology of the Italian word confine, are also cum-finis, or the communal limit of different communities.

Here you can see a short video about the installation realized for the exhibition L'UTOPIA PRATICABILE, Rome 26th of june 2007, 17,00 p.m. Museo H.C.Andersen Via Pasquale Stanislao Mancini 20, Roma.
This installation is part of the touch screen series , proposing different forms of interaction in between body, image and space.

Untouch screen is a device about the Colli Anene area in Rome, where two complete opposite realities (a nice residential area and a no-man's land, with a gipsy camp, informal uses of the land etc.) are divided by the Roma-L'Aquila higway.

Two opposite videoprojectors share the same surface, the same border, reproducing two opposite realities, two spaces and identities side by side along a border that at the same time divides and joins. The visitor looking at these spaces cannot be neutral, his/her presence on one side and on the other of the screen modifies the image, unveils one or the other space...

4 may 2007 : together with Simone Muscolino of Interaction Design Lab we arrive in Bari to start the workshop for the mosaic of the new library façades for the Lombardi school. As we have proposed in our design for this extension of the school, that will have an important cultural role not only for the school but for the whole area, we are involving some students to participate in a creative process. A group of ten students had been selected by an internal competition in the school, named "Draw your own façade"; this first creative step in the process has been very useful to choose a small group to participate to this photography and image digital processing workshop.

Before leaving for a shooting tour of the city, Simone introduces the students in the realm of photography, with some basic instructions and very useful tricks to observe and capture reality...

The main shooting set is the food market in the former "Manifattura Tabacchi".

Fruits, flowers, vegetables, fishes, shrimps, octopus; every detail is captured by the students in this trip...

In the afternoon, after a small trip in the old city, we come back in the school, where Simone involves the students in a new game: each student is asked to be a celebrity for few minutes, uuder the friendly fire of nine photographers...

The rest of the day is dedicated to see the shooting with the students, making comments on the best ones, and testing with pixelization and reduction of colours some of them:

But what we like most are the results of the celebrity game; the smiling faces of the students seem to represent in a very powerful way the meaning of this workshop (to root this new buikding among its users); at the same time is the result of a collective work, more than a one person product.
The morning of the 5th of may, among the various proposals this solutions is accepted by everybody with enthousiasm!

Back in Rome, after one month of testing of different kind of tiles with the precious help of Pietro, to find the best colours and the best prices if possible, we finally make the final drawings of the mosaic for the construction...

Next step a public event to present everything to the school and the city ...

One year and half blog

One year and half later finally we have updated our website, and started this new blog... in a kind of home-made english, to communicate to everybody.
Just few words and images to tell you some about what has happened during this long long time.

december 2005 : We could start from our participation to the "Storytellers" exhibition in the Beyond Media festival in Florence, with Omini, a website to share human presence in architectural drawings. Check it out at www.ma0.it/omini.
Once again we didn't know if this was the best choice (to participate to an exhibition without showing our work); it seemed to us a great idea, but the website should have an interface that could allow to everybody to upload very easily new images...

2005 -2006 : together with the other promoters of the Romalab independent laboratory of reasearch on the city, we continue to explore the latest city...

2006 : Game Zone is finally printed in italian too, with Edilstampa. Though it is written by one of us, the book is strictly related to ma0 work and research. A nice review by Matteo Costanzo here.

april 2006 : During the Salone del Mobile in Milan we have been invited to make a workshop with the NABA students, where we have been working on an Atlante del Confine (Borders Atlas), asking to the students to map all the borders they could find along the road to the new Milano Fair. may 2006 : The video Architectures on a thin line is presented at the Acquario Romano, in the exhibition Lo spazio digitale dell'architettura italiana.

june 2006 : exhibition in Perugia (model+videos) to present to the city the project-financing design of the multifunctional complex designed by ma0.

july 2006 : we came back in Milan for another workshop, called Urban Toys, focused on the design of multiuse-mobile-transformable micro architectures for public space, with some american students...

october 2006 : Isole del Tesoro has been a one-week workshop in Autumn, in Lastra a Signa, in Tuscany, together with an entousiastic group of students and fresh architects from all over Italy...

SOS - Signe Operazione Suolo was the name to the various strategies we have proposed to the municpality of Lastra a Signa to strenghten the public domain and the pedestrian and bike paths. One week of full-time work, closed with a nice pop-up exhibition and a superb dinner.

autumn 2006 : ma0 is in the exhibition: "Contemporary ecologies, Energies for Italian Architecture", 5th Brasilia Biennal of Architecture

january 2007 : the first Vivalibri bookshop in Rome, Testaccio piazza S.Maria Liberatrice is opened. Big event with the Scuola di Musica Popolare di Testaccio, drinks & food, representatives of the municipality, and a beautiful crowd. february 2006 : second phase results of the menoèpiù competition, and the winner is... not ma0! But we love very much our proposal. More on the official competition website or on www.ma0.it/load_pontina.html.

january - may 2007 : the second phase of the Romalab research group are the Real Sessions : four seminars hosted in the MAXXI to focus on the development of some european latest cities. For Barcelona, Berlin, and Rotterdam people like Manuel Gausa, Area Ciega, Sitesize, Francesca Ferguson, Klaus Overmeyer, Paola Cannavò, Alessandro Petti, the Maze Corporation, Hans Ibelings and Giampiero Sanguigni have been invited to debate about the dynamics and design and relational strategies in these cities in the last 15 years.
Next seminar, on the 25th of may, about Rome, where the romalabbers + others will discuss about issues of the latest and future Rome, presenting the "state of the art" of their researches.

january -april 2007 : one morning the telephone rings... and the municipality of Almere invites us to make an urban study on the future expansion of the city. Other teams invited are MVRDV, Neutelings, Sorkin + MUST.
